Terms of service
These terms of service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Letter Jobs platform, website, and services (the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
Letter Jobs is a marketplace that connects newsletter creators ("Creators") with employers ("Employers") for job ad placements. These Terms apply to all users of the Service.
If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.
1. Description of service
Letter Jobs provides a marketplace platform where Employers can place job ads in newsletters published by Creators. The Service facilitates ad creation, placement requests, payment processing, and campaign performance reporting.
Letter Jobs acts as a marketplace facilitator and is not a party to any agreement between Creators and Employers. We are not a recruitment agency or employment business within the meaning of the Employment Agencies Act 1973.
2. Account registration
To use the Service, you must create an account. When registering, you agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information
- Maintain and update your information to keep it accurate
- Keep your account credentials secure and confidential
- Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorised access
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. We reserve the right to refuse registration or suspend accounts at our discretion.
3. Creator terms
If you register as a Creator, you agree to the following:
3.1 Obligations
- Provide accurate information about your newsletter, including audience size and engagement metrics
- Fulfil accepted placement requests in accordance with the agreed terms
- Maintain the quality and integrity of your newsletter content
- Comply with all applicable email marketing laws and regulations
3.2 Payment terms
- Creators receive the placement fee less a platform commission after successful delivery
- Payments are processed through Stripe to your connected account
- You are responsible for any applicable taxes on your earnings
- Payout timing and minimum thresholds may apply
4. Employer terms
If you register as an Employer, you agree to the following:
4.1 Job ad requirements
- Provide truthful and accurate job ad information
- Ensure all job advertisements comply with the Equality Act 2010 and must not discriminate on the basis of any protected characteristic
- Comply with applicable advertising standards and regulations
- Have the right and authority to advertise the positions listed
- Not advertise positions that are illegal, misleading, or fraudulent
4.2 Payment and billing
- Payment is required when placing a job ad
- Pricing is set by individual Creators
- Payment processing is handled by Stripe
- Refund eligibility depends on the status of the placement at the time of the request
5. Fees and payments
All financial transactions on the platform are processed through Stripe. By using the Service, you agree to Stripe's terms of service.
Letter Jobs charges a platform commission on each completed placement. The applicable fees are displayed to you before you confirm any transaction.
You are responsible for any applicable taxes (including VAT) on payments you make or receive through the Service.
6. Content standards
All content submitted to the platform must:
- Be accurate, lawful, and not misleading
- Not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party
- Not contain discriminatory, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable material
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including the Equality Act 2010 and the UK Code of Non-broadcast Advertising and Direct & Promotional Marketing (CAP Code)
We reserve the right to review, edit, or remove content that violates these standards.
7. Prohibited conduct
You agree not to:
- Provide false or misleading information about yourself, your newsletter, or your company
- Artificially inflate audience metrics, engagement data, or campaign performance
- Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorised purpose
- Circumvent any fees or commissions owed to Letter Jobs
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other accounts or systems
- Use automated means to access the Service without our permission
- Harass, abuse, or harm other users
- Contact users outside the platform to circumvent Letter Jobs' marketplace
8. Intellectual property
8.1 Your content
You retain ownership of content you submit to the Service. By submitting content, you grant Letter Jobs a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, display, and distribute your content as necessary to provide the Service.
8.2 Our content
The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Letter Jobs and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission.
9. Platform role and disclaimers
Letter Jobs acts as a marketplace facilitator. We are not a party to any agreement between Creators and Employers, and we are not responsible for:
- The quality, accuracy, or legality of job ads or newsletter content
- The performance or delivery of any placement
- Any dispute between Creators and Employers
- The hiring decisions of any Employer
- The accuracy of audience metrics provided by Creators
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that any specific results will be achieved.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Letter Jobs shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid to Letter Jobs in the twelve months preceding the claim.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Letter Jobs, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:
- Your use of the Service
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any rights of a third party
- Content you submit to the platform
12. Termination
You may close your account at any time by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause and with or without notice.
Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. Any pending placements must be fulfilled in accordance with their terms, and any outstanding payments will be processed according to our standard procedures.
Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including intellectual property, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law.
13. Dispute resolution
If you have a dispute with another user regarding a placement, we encourage you to contact us. Letter Jobs may, at its sole discretion, assist in mediating the dispute, but we are under no obligation to do so.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service, except where you are a consumer entitled to bring proceedings in your local courts.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify you via email. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
16. General provisions
- Entire agreement: These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Letter Jobs regarding the Service
- Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full effect
- Waiver: Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that right or provision
- Assignment: You may not assign your rights under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign our rights at any time without notice
- Force majeure: We are not liable for delays or failures in performance resulting from circumstances beyond our reasonable control
- No partnership: Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, joint venture, agency, or employment relationship between you and Letter Jobs
